Prom queen and king named

As the 2018-2019 school year draws to a close in the next few weeks, the senior class has announced a new Prom queen and king.

Seniors Jordyn Peterson and Mohammed Aidja were presented with the honors during prom weekend, which was held earlier in May. Jordyn and Mohammed were nominated and elected by their classmates to represent this year’s graduating class.

CVC Sportsmanship Award

West Geauga High School seniors David Beattie, soccer, and Mia Minello, softball, have been awarded the Chagrin Valley Conference Sportsmanship Award for the 2018-2019 school year.

The CVC Sportsmanship Award recognizes students who exemplify leadership and sportsmanship in their districts. The award was presented during the CVC Sportsmanship Awards Conference in April.

Eighth-graders visit businesses

Students from West Geauga Middle School spent a day visiting Geauga County businesses. The trip was organized by Geauga Growth Partnership.

“The eighth-graders were given the opportunity to travel to Best Sand & Gravel on a field trip in conjunction with the Geauga Growth Partnership,” said Principal Jim Kish. “Students also traveled to University Hospital Systems and to Saint-Gobain Crystals.”

The trip allowed students to see how their classroom learning translates into real world business situations.
