The Chardon Board of Education approved the hiring of Deb Armbruster for the district’s open treasurer position at a special meeting on May 24.

Ms. Armbruster, a Chardon city resident, currently serves as the Crestwood Local Schools treasurer and previously worked in Chardon’s treasurer’s office. The board approved a three-year contract for Ms. Armbruster beginning Aug. 1 at an annual base salary of $105,000 as well as an interim treasurer contract from June 1 through July 31 on an as needed basis at a rate of $50.48 per hour not to exceed $403.58 per day, according to district documents.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity of serving Chardon Local Schools, the board, the staff and the community in my home town,” Ms. Armbruster said in a written statement.

Chardon’s treasurer position was open after current treasurer Ashley Brudno was hired as treasurer for the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village School District in April.

“Mrs. Brudno has done a terrific job as treasurer for the last five years and we wish her all the best in her new position,” Board President Madelon Horvath said in the release. “It’s exciting to have Ms. Armbruster back on our team. We believe she will be a great asset to Chardon Local Schools.”
