BAINBRIDGE — Trustees showed on Monday that it is never too late to create an investment strategy.

Representatives from RedTree Investment Group presented trustees with their monthly investment report on the Bainbridge Township public fund.

RedTree has been providing investment solutions for Ohio entities for more than 15 years. The company is an independent investment adviser dedicated to public funds and advises on nearly $5 billion public funds across Ohio with more than 200 Ohio public entities as valued clients.

The township partnered with RedTree in February of 2019 when the company assumed management of former Morgan Stanley investment accounts and currently provides investment advice on $16 million in township funds. RedTree also works with the township on any potential cashflow needs.

Representatives Ryan Nelson and Joe Violand provided the trustees with a review of the township’s general fund investment and debt reduction plans. The investment portfolio for the general fund has a current value of $12.5 million as of June 30 with an annual expected income of $238,000.

With interest rates projected to remain near zero for the foreseeable future, RedTree is focused on the goals of preserving principal and ensuring adequate liquidity for the township’s cashflow needs, the representatives said.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the planned monthly investment reporting by RedTree was put on pause. Mr. Nelson said that the company looks forward to resuming investment presentations to the trustees.

“I would like to continue this on an annual basis,” Mr. Nelson said. “I can’t thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to assist the township.”

In other business, trustees moved to approve a purchase order request of $9,000 for the police department’s shooting range cleaning and refurbishing.

A motion was made to approve the payment of $5,318 to Murphy Tractor & Equipment for the extended warranty for a John Deere 624L tractor owned by the township.

Trustees also approved a purchase order request of $8,619 to Chagrin Pet & Garden for a lawn mower.

The next regular trustee meeting is Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.
