Students meet local business owners
Students in the Business Principles and Management class at Chagrin Falls High School got a taste of the world of entrepreneurship when they researched and visited local businesses. There are 18 students in the class, the majority of which are juniors and seniors who are interested in majoring in business in college.
In the class, students learned about the various types of business ownership and researched local businesses that fall into certain categories to present their findings to the class.
After the presentation, the class created a field trip to local businesses. Students decided where they would go, with the only requirement being that they visit only one of each type of ownership. The class visited four businesses for about 30 to 40 minutes each.
Students chosen for honors band
Eight of Chagrin Falls High School’s band members have been chosen to participate in the Ohio Music Educators Association Honors Band. The students are sophomore Maddie Ferguson; juniors Ryan Brackett, Alec Davis, Sara Hartle and Darya Rebeta; and senior Tom Swift. They were selected from a group of 251 applicants from 38 area high schools.
The events associated with the Honors Band takes place at Cleveland State University. Students will attend a seating audition on Nov. 14 to determine what chair they will play, meaning their rank associated with their skill level as related to the other musicians. On Nov. 15, students will rehearse and attend master classes. They will also listen to a short recital by CSU faculty. On Nov. 16 the students will perform a free concert open to the public at the Waetjen Auditorium at CSU at 4 p.m.
