Boots on the Bar

Larry Shibley of Yours Truly, right, presents a $15,000 check to Chief Frank Zugan of the Chagrin Falls Suburban Volunteer Firemen’s Association for their new nonprofit Firefighters Charitable Foundation.

Yours Truly in Chagrin Falls held a fundraiser, Boots on the Bar, to benefit the Chagrin Falls Suburban Volunteer Firemen’s Association’s newly established 501(c)(3) Chagrin Falls Firefighter's Charitable Foundation. The May 22 fundraiser resulted in the $15,000 donation to the foundation.

Chief Frank Zugan of the Chagrin Falls Fire Department and the association said the money will help fund the station’s expansion of the apparatus bay for storage of department vehicles as well as the addition of dorm spaces for female firefighters and kitchen renovations.

“It was nice of [Yours Truly] and Larry Shibley to put on the event for us,” Chief Zugan said. “M Italian and the [Chagrin Valley] Chamber of Commerce have done similar fundraisers for us, so hopefully this will keep the ball rolling with other businesses in town so we can reach our goal.”

Chief Zugan said that the department created the foundation to ease the burden on the communities by not having to raise taxes for capital expenditures. As a nonprofit, the foundation is able to accept donations.
