Construction began on Tuesday to widen the roadway on Chagrin Boulevard in Moreland Hills Village to add another lane. Crews are working on a new eastbound left turn lane to enter Moreland Commons, the new housing development on Chagrin.

Moreland Hills Engineer Jeff Filarski said that the construction will take about a month and traffic will be maintained in both directions. The turning lane is between Gail Allison Drive and SOM Center Road. The construction is at the expense of Axiom Development Group. Mayor Dan Fritz said at the Nov. 4 council meeting that Axiom finished its curbing and underground utility work. He said that Axiom is looking forward to getting the roadway in so people can park on site for open houses rather than parking at the Orange City School District campus and crossing the street. There is currently one house on the property, Mayor Fritz said, but it is a private residence, not the model home.
