A driver was injured at around 11 a.m. Wednesday (July 3) in Chardon Township when his Fed Ex truck traveling at Kirtland-Chardon and Wisner roads rolled over on the bridge spanning the Chagrin River, according to the Chardon Fire Department

The driver was severely injured and transported by rescue squad to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. The Geauga County Haz Mat Team was called to the scene to prevent diesel fuel from the truck's fuel tanks from spilling into the river and to help with fuel on the roadway, according to the report.

The road was closed for approximately three hours. The name of the driver has not been released by officials.

The Chardon Fire Department received mutual aid from the Munson and Kirtland fire departments.
