The Geauga County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a suspected suicide on Saturday.
Late Saturday afternoon ( Nov. 17) a man entered the lobby of University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, according to medical center officials, and proceeded to a remote area of the hospital where he is believed to have taken his own life.
A UH security officer found the man who was transferred to the UH Geauga Emergency Department where every effort was made to revive him, the UH spokeswoman said. The man died at 4 p.m. The man was identified as a patient of a UH Geauga physician, according to the statement. No other patients or staff were in that area of the building at the time, and at no time was there any danger to other UH Geauga patients or staff, the UH spokeswoman said. The Geauga County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. UH Geauga Medical Center remains open, secure and fully operational, the UH spokeswoman said.
