Students collect coats for kids

Moreland Hills Elementary School’s annual “Coats for Kids” campaign was a huge success again this year, bringing in more than 100 new and gently used coats for children in need in Northeast Ohio. Students in grades kindergarten through five donated the coats and jackets during a three-week period, beginning just after Thanksgiving. The bags of coats were dropped off at the Howard Hanna Real Estate office in Pepper Pike to assist in the campaign to ensure that children throughout Greater Cleveland are kept warm this winter. All fifth-graders were involved in assisting in the school collection.

Seven place in tournament

Seven Orange High School students on Mock Trial’s Team Zeppelin placed in the MockHawk Tournament at Miami University last weekend.

The OHS team placed fifth overall out of 28 teams. Team member and OHS senior Katie Brateanu earned the award for second place attorney overall, representing both the plaintiff and defense. Other team members include seniors Robert Miron, Raghav Bhatia, Sarah Kirsh, Leora Joseph, Zoey Yelsky and Jackson Leb.

This year’s mock trial case focused on First Amendment issues versus the safety of schools. OHS Mock Trial has nine teams this year with a total of 73 students.
