Seniors volunteer at food bank

Orange High School seniors in Courtnay Cirino’s Global Citizenship classes began their “Choosing to Participate” project by volunteering last week at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. This class encourages students to think about ways they can participate as thoughtful and caring citizens in the community.

Winter concert performances

The Orange High School Choir will perform its winter concert on Dec. 3. The Brady Middle School Band will perform its winter concert on Dec. 5. Both concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the OHS auditorium.

Preschool screenings

The Orange Inclusive Preschool has begun scheduling screenings for the 2020-21 school year. These screenings are for Orange City School District resident children 2-and-a-half years old (turning 3 years old prior to Sept. 30, 2020) to 5 years old (who will not be attending kindergarten in fall 2020). Screenings will take place on Jan. 10, 2020 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and from 1-3 p.m. at the Orange Inclusive Preschool located in the Pepper Pike Learning Center on the Orange Schools Campus, 32000 Chagrin Blvd.

Appointments are required and may be scheduled by calling 216-831-8600, ext. 5605. Screenings are approximately one hour and a parent/guardian must remain in the building for the session. Results of the assessment will be shared with parents within two weeks of the screening.

Brady receives board game grant

Brady Middle School recently received a $1,500 GPD Group grant to obtain board games. The grant was garnered by Orange City Schools Occupational Therapist Kathy Castrataro. Students will benefit from the academic, fine motor and gross motor and social interaction the board games facilitate.

The GPD Group was founded in 1961 by men from different architecture and engineering specialties who shared the values of family and work fulfillment. In 2014, GPD Group established a 501(c)(3) medium to aid in channeling donations that will enrich the K-12 public education experience. GPD has funded three different projects at Brady Middle School over the past two school years.
