RUSSELL — The township board of trustees settled in for the new year as Kristina Port was sworn in as the new trustee last week. She won the seat from incumbent Justin Madden by one vote in the Nov. 5 general election.

Trustee Jim Mueller was elected as the new board chairman by Ms. Port and Trustee Gary Gabram, who took claim to the title of vice chairman.

Additional appointment proceedings included the appointment of trustee representatives to various committees on behalf of the township. Mr. Mueller will serve as the appointed representative to the Geauga County Health District Advisory Committee, HAZMAT Council of Governments, Chagrin Valley Intergovernmental Conference. Mr. Gabram will serve as the appointed representative to the Chagrin River Watershed partners, Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association and the West Geauga District Communications Committee. Ms. Port will serve as the appointed representative of the Storm Water Management Program.

The trustees also approved new regular board meeting times for 2020, meeting at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, respectively. Mr. Mueller also recommended that board trustees rotate with each other to attend different township Homeowners Association meetings.
