A former Solon school teacher has been indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on 19 counts of gross sexual imposition.
Edward Kline, 50, of Stow, the district’s former band director, was indicted Sept. 29, and his arraignment is set at the county for 1 p.m. Oct. 14. The Bedford Municipal Court dismissed his case this week due to the indictment.
Mr. Kline, who is being represented by attorney Eric Nemecek, faces 19 counts, each of which carries penalties.
He is being prosecuted by County Prosecutor Mike O’Malley’s office.
Mr. Kline remains out on $50,000 bond this week.
Mr. Kline began being investigated back in 2017-2018. An investigation resumed earlier this year due to a post on social media and is ongoing as more alleged victims come forward.
His arrest last month stemmed from an investigation that began in June by the police department’s detective bureau. The alleged incident occurred in September of 2010 and involved what was, at that time, a 12-year-old victim.
The district had released statements to families regarding this matter and stated that, two years ago, when this issue arose, they promptly investigated the allegations and fulfilled its responsibilities by reporting to the proper state and local authorities.
Mr. Kline was permitted to resign at that time.
