Officers get honors

Woodmere Village police officers, from left, Christopher Dotson, Dwane Robinson and Sgt. Christopher Colon were presented with certificates of appreciation and recognition on behalf of police Chief Sheila Mason, right, Village Council and Mayor Benjamin Holbert last week for their actions during an incident on Jan. 24. While responding to a call at the Super 8 motel parking lot in Orange Village, the three officers were able to de-escalate a situation where a Cleveland man was not complying to officers’ commands. With guns drawn, the officers were finally able to take custody of Jerry Ragland without shots being fired. Mr. Ragland was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and more than 3 pounds of marijuana. Chief Mason commended the men for their showing of “extreme caution, safety and diligence.”
