“The music will be glorious and fun, some of the best chamber music in town,” says Jodi Kanter, artistic director of Musical Upcoming Stars in the Classics (M.U.S.i.C.), the non-profit concert host.
In addition to a premiere work commissioned for M.U.S.I.C. by Mexican composer Julian Fueyo, the program will feature works by composers Paquito D’Rivera, Alberto Ginastera, Ernesto Lecuona, Astor Piazzolla, Manuel Ponce, and Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Radamés Gnattali “Concerto a Brasileira” arranged for chamber ensemble by guitarist Andy Poxon.
Performers come from Europe, Asia and the Americas, including violinists Maria Beyens, Victor Beyens, Maude Cloutier, and Quentin Routierr; pianists Matias Cuevas (Chilean-American), Gaston Frydman (Argentinian), and Alexander Kostritsa; cellists Benjamin Mekinulov and Brendon Phelps; bassist Henry Samuels; clarinetist Marquise Bradley; and vocalists Alexa Lopez (Cuban-American) soprano, Carlyle Quinn, mezzo-soprano. and Joseph Breslau, baritone; and Poxon.
General admission $35; students $15; patron: $60.
M.U.S.I.C. has been been bringing emerging musicians to Northeast Ohio audiences for 15 years. Its mission is to provide performance opportunities and to share the joy of classical music.
