Silver Lining and Silver Bells
We missed you last year at the Times for our Holiday Writing Contest! With the many challenges that came with 2020, we felt it was the best time to bring the contest back to help us focus on the positives or think about what is truly important to us in these difficult times during the coronavirus pandemic with the theme “Silver Linings and Silver Bells.”
In sending out our call for entries to more than 20 public and private schools in our coverage area across the Chagrin Valley, Solon and Geauga County, we received more than 70 story submissions from students across all grade levels – more than we have ever received in one year.
Your stories pulled at our heart strings, made us laugh and made us think. After reading every submission, we narrowed the pool of stories down to nine that we are running in this week’s Times. Selected stories include an overall winner as our feature centerpiece, an overall runner-up, winners and runners-up per grade categories and an editor’s choice. If we could fit all stories in the paper, we certainly would; however, all stories are available on our website, ChagrinValleyToday.com.
We hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as we did.
