Students study Chinese New Year

Students in Qian Wu’s Chinese classes are learning about the Chinese New Year. Throughout the unit of study, the students will participate in a parade with Chinese dragon and fan dances. These are parts of the tradition and culture that the students are learning. The final activity is the Chinese New Year celebration, in which students at the middle and high schools will participate.

Head custodian retires

Westwood Elementary School head custodian Joe Klima retired this January. The district recognized Mr. Klima as a favorite among students and staff, who honored him during an all-school assembly on Jan. 31 where student and parent groups gave presentations on his time with West G schools.

Lady Wolverines win CVC

The West Geauga Lady Wolverine basketball team won the Chagrin Division of the Chagrin Valley Conference. The girls will begin the playoffs on Feb. 20 at West Geauga High School. After the victory over Lakeside High School, each of the girls took a turn cutting down a piece of the net in celebration.
