It’s a numbers’ game

Moreland Hills Elementary School presented Math Night 2020 on Jan. 16. Hundreds of elementary school students and their parents gathered for a night of math information, games and activities. Math night was created by two intervention specialists to give students and their parents ongoing ways to work through math activities at home.

Mock Trial teams advance

Orange High School Mock Trial advanced five teams to the regional tournament thanks to a strong showing at the district competition earlier this month in downtown Cleveland. The Orange teams’ names are AC/DC, Beatles, Floyd, Metallica and Zeppelin. There were also 19 individual Orange High School student award winners who brought home 21 awards from the regional tournament.

Orange Jazz Invitational

The Third Annual Orange Jazz Invitational will be held in the Orange High School Auditorium, 32000 Chagrin Blvd. in Pepper Pike, on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature the Brady Middle School and Orange High School jazz bands. Also performing will be jazz bands from West Geauga, Kenston and Cuyahoga Falls high schools, with each group performing up to five selections. The concert is free and open to the public.

International Night planned

Orange schools parents, students, siblings, friends, teachers and all staff are invited to the second annual “International Night” at Moreland Hills Elementary School, 32000 Chagrin Blvd., on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. It is a potluck event with food, entertainment and posters to celebrate cultural diversity. Scholastic art, writing awards

The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition accepted artwork by eighth-graders Alastair Roche and Maya Korland. Alastair and Maya received a Silver Key award and an Honorable Mention, respectively, for their mixed media self-portraits. The Scholastic Art Exhibition is on display through Jan. 31 in the Reinberger Gallery at the Cleveland Institute of Art, 11610 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland.
