Students advance on Americanism

Senior Morgan Scott, Junior Hannah Espinosa and Sophomore Lucas Stoddard finished strong in the recent Americanism Test, a nationwide exam given to more than 65,000 students across the country, demonstrating the importance of citizenship and governance education. The test also is used to encourage students to become well-versed and to help develop leadership skills and qualities that the next generation can use to keep democracy healthy and safe.

All three students won on the county and district levels, and their tests were sent into Columbus to compete among 84 other students across the state. Lucas scored in the top three of all sophomore male students in the state to take the test and was offered an all-expenses paid trip to Gettysburg and Washington, D.C. Four students have placed in the top 18 students over the past four years.
