Students prepare transformations

Students taking college biology at Cardinal High School taught by Ben Clutter recently prepared bacterial cultures that have undergone genetic transformation in their labs. Students inoculated the Petri dishes to determine if the bacteria absorbed the genetic plasmid and to determine if the bacteria have taken on the genetic properties the plasmid should provide.

Third-graders study sound

Third-graders wrapped up their study of energy with sound energy experiments in the Cardinal Intermediate School Science Lab. First, students watched the different sound waves from various instruments on the oscilloscope. Next, students then used materials from their teacher’s recycling bin and other materials to make instruments. Last, students got to play their instruments and watch the sound waves their instruments created. Students enjoyed seeing how everyday items created sound.
