Cardinal welcomes new treasurer

The Cardinal Local School District finance department has a new leader at the helm. On Jan. 1, Julia Rozsnyai officially took over the duties as district treasurer for the retiring Merry Lou Knuckles. Mrs. Rozsnyai joined Cardinal on Dec. 1 and spent one month training with Ms. Knuckles as the assistant treasurer.

“I come to the Cardinal Local School District with great enthusiasm,” Mrs. Rozsnyai said. “I live here in beautiful Geauga County and am very excited to work with this great group of individuals.”

Prior to coming to Cardinal, Mrs. Rozsnyai was the treasurer of West Branch Local Schools in Mahoning County. Her experience also includes leading the fiscal department at the Information Technology Center of the Northeast Ohio Educational Service Center and serving as assistant treasurer at the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village School district. Before that, Mrs. Rozsnyai worked at Kenston Local Schools.

“The first time we met Mrs. Rozsnyai during her interview, it became apparent that she is very passionate about her work and about the success of the Cardinal Local School District,” Superintendent Bill Kermavner said. “She has really hit the ground running here, getting to know the inner workings of our district and we look forward to using her knowledge and skill set to continue moving the district forward in financial solvency and stability.”

While Mrs. Rozsnyai has been busy familiarizing herself with the district, she said she is looking forward to meeting the community.

“This is a beautiful district and there is much to celebrate and be proud of here in the Cardinal community,” Mrs. Rozsnyai said. “I look forward to working with our families and community members in securing a stable financial future.”
