Orange recognizes veterans
Students and staff in the Orange schools were involved in multiple activities to honor and support soldiers on Veterans Day. Moreland Hills Elementary School students created cards for the veterans either virtually or during their hybrid classes. The school shared a video slideshow with images of students holding their cards coupled with the high school band playing “Marches of the Armed Forces.” The video can be viewed at bit.ly/OrangeSalutesVeterans2020.
Brady Middle School students, under the guidance of teacher Samantha Schaedler, filled care packages for a dozen Orange High School and Kenston High School graduates who are currently serving. The boxes were filled with handmade cards, candy, toiletries, socks, lip balms, gift cards, books, handmade painted tiles by former OHS teacher and graduate Heidi Rudolph and school memorabilia. It was a cross-community effort with more than 100 pounds of Halloween candy collected and local veterans adding their support by donating needed items, including magazines, newspapers and journals. Leftover candy was donated to local first responders.
Virtual alma mater available
The Orange High School Class of 2021 practiced and recorded a rendition of “Fair Orange,” the OHS alma mater. Director Jake Robinson produced and edited the recording. The rendition is available at bit.ly/OHSAlmaMater.
