Two named semifinalists

Orange High School seniors Stephen Daly and Steven Fellinger were recognized as 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalist. Only 16,000 high school seniors across the United States were named semifinalists. They each have the opportunity to compete for one of the 7,600 scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be awarded in the spring.

Sign up for library cards

Orange schools and the Orange Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library are co-hosting a 30-minute Zoom presentation Sept. 24, 2020 from 7:30-8 p.m. to help families sign up for a Cuyahoga County Public Library card for online books and more. Orange Branch Children’s Services Supervisor Maryanne Haller and Orange Schools Literacy Specialist Maren Koepf will present. The link to this Zoom session is zoom.us/j/2186946036.

Free lunches available

The USDA has changed its guidelines regarding school meals and has extended eligibility for free lunches until Dec. 31, 2020. Lunches will be available for free for all children ages 1-18 regardless of their status in the National School Lunch Program. Drive-up pick-up will be available at the front entrance of Orange High School on weekdays from 11 a.m. to noon on the days classes are being held. School buses will also drop off lunches at three locations, including Jillian Courts at 10:45 a.m., Beechmont Towers at 11:10 a.m. and Country Lane at 11:35 a.m. on those same days.
