Students receive blast from past
It was a throwback to a simpler time when Moreland Hills Elementary School second-graders, both in person and virtually, celebrated “Pioneer Day” earlier this month.
The return to the past is intended to help second-graders move into the future by guiding the students to better understand technology and appreciate the modern conveniences they have. Teachers created this collaborative experience with their month-long study of the pioneers, their communication methods, their jobs and transportation and their daily lives. The hands-on, annual event engaged students in activities including basket weaving, tin punching and whirligig creations.
Preschool receives PBIS award
Orange Inclusive Preschool received the Ohio Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Bronze Award. PBIS involves teaching students expected behaviors in a consistent and positive way, modeling and acknowledging those behaviors and helping all students meet expectations and be successful. The 2020 Ohio PBIS Showcase, in conjunction with the Ohio Leadership Advisory Council (OLAC), will honor the school in a virtual conference on Dec. 15.
