Solon BOE settles suit

The Solon Board of Education approved a settlement agreement with district parents following a lawsuit in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. Richard and Rhonda Fuller filed the civil suit against the district regarding the suspension of their student, according to court documents.

“This is a settlement agreement with a parent in the district over discipline issues. We do not comment on discipline issues, so with your approval tonight though this will end the disagreement,” Superintendent Joseph Regano said prior to the board’s unanimous vote. Mr. Regano said there was no money exchanged as part of the settlement since it was a disciplinary issue.

BOE issues financial report

The Solon City School District released its Popular Annual Financial Report this week. Treasurer Tim Pickana said the report is more reader-friendly than the audited financial statements required by the Ohio Auditor of State’s office.

“It’s a total of nine pages, just a summary of our district’s financial picture from revenues to expenses to tax rates, how we compare to some similar districts out there across Cuyahoga County,” Mr. Pickana said. “It’s a pretty easy read and some interesting information.” The report can be accessed at bit.ly/2CIMHR7 (case sensitive).
