West G livestreams athletics

The fall athletic stands were limited to two fans for each athlete. To accommodate the fan base, the West Geauga Local School District livestreamed all home athletic events and the playoffs on their YouTube Channel.

Fans viewed the games live, and the district recorded and archived them on their channel for future viewing. Students and community members assisted with the broadcasts as announcers and camera operators. The district said it is likely to continue livestreaming athletic events even when crowds return to full capacity.

Parent education series offered

West Geauga Local Schools invites parents to participate in their Parent Education Series to provide ongoing education and support for families. The sessions are designed to increase awareness of opportunities for students as well as assist parents with today’s challenges. The sessions will focus on topics including technology tools and tips for parents, social/emotional needs and resources and cyber safety. The first session in the three-part series was conducted on Nov. 5. Two additional sessions will be on Nov. 12 and 19. Director of Pupil Personnel Amy Davis and Assistant Superintendent Nancy Benincasa will be joined by panelists from the ESC of the Western Reserve School-Community Forum, Ravenwood and Lake-Geauga Computer Association during these sessions.
