Pancakes for purpose at Yours Truly

Yours Truly Restaurant, 30 N. Main St. in Chagrin Falls, will host the first annual “Pancake for a Purpose” pancake breakfast Thanksgiving morning (Nov. 28) from 7:30-11:30 a.m. Complimentary breakfast will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee to benefit the Believe in Dreams nonprofit, whose mission is to fulfill dreams of economically disadvantaged youth who have survived nonmedical adversity. Solon Chamber celebration

On Dec. 10, the Solon Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual holiday luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pinstripes at Pinecrest, 111 Park Ave. in Orange, to celebrate their members. The chamber will begin their celebration luncheon with a performance by the Solon Madrigal Choir, led by Gary Lewis. Cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. Fellowship lunch, bake sale

The Christian Women’s Connection will hold their annual bake sale Dec. 11 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Signature of Solon Country Club, 39000 Signature Drive in Solon. Clubs ring for Kettle Campaign

The Berkshire Interact Club and the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club will be ringing the bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign on Dec. 7 and 14, respectively, at the Middlefield Walmart store, 15050 S. Springdale Ave.

There will be other Rotary Clubs ringing the bell throughout Geauga County and in the Chagrin Falls area on the same dates. All money donated to these kettles is only distributed in Geauga County.

Task Force benefit concert

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir’s 30th annual Christmas musical benefit begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at Notre Dame Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson. The program raises money through goodwill offerings for the Geauga Hunger Task Force serving seven emergency food pantries throughout Geauga County. The choir performs Christmas selections including a portion of Handel’s “Messiah.” The Pilgrim Brass Choir, Fret Not Strings and Giojoso instrumental players also perform. Admission is free and no reservations are required, but a goodwill offering will be collected.

Hamlet presents holiday concerts

The Hamlet Concert Series present three holiday concerts at the Hamlet Atrium, 200 Hamlet Hills Drive in Chagrin Falls. On Dec. 10 at 7 p.m., the Hillcrest Concert Band will perform; on Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m., the Geauga Renaissance Singers will perform; and on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m., the Western Reserve Chorale in Concert will perform. Chamber ugly sweater party

Enjoy music, food, light appetizers, beer, wine and networking at Lowe's Greenhouse, 16540 Chillicothe Road in Chagrin Falls, for the Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce’s holiday party from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. Wear an ugly holiday sweater for a chance to earn a prize for the most votes for best and ugliest sweater. Get a jump on holiday shopping with a 10 percent discount on items purchased that evening. Geauga Plastic Coalition meets

The Geauga Plastic Coalition will meet Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Geauga West Branch of the Geauga County Public Library, 13455 Chillicothe Road in Chester. Free college research

Lake Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) will hold a free session for high school juniors and their parents at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at Lakeland Community College, room C-1011 in Kirtland. “Researching Colleges Online” is an interactive session designed to teach students how to research colleges extensively online.

Hike with Santa and Buddy the Elf

Discover the wonders of the season on a hike with Santa Claus and Buddy the Elf from 12:30-2 p.m. and 2:30-4 p.m. Dec. 14 at West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell. Santa will be available for photos and wish lists after the hike. Registration is required at 440-286-9516.

Holiday meals for seniors

The Geauga County Department on Aging will offer a free traditional holiday meal to any Geauga County senior age 60 and older who will be home and alone on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. There will be no regular home delivered meal delivery or congregate meals that day. Holiday meals are available by preorder only.

If you are a Geauga County senior or you know of a Geauga County senior who will be home and alone on the holiday, call the Geauga County Department on Aging at 440-279-2130. In order to ensure your holiday meal delivery, contact the Department on Aging as soon as possible. Christmas Day meal requests are due Dec. 13.
