Chagrin Arts performance series

Chagrin Arts 2019-20 Performing Arts Series kicks off Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. with the Callisto Quartet. The concert and artists’ reception will take place at Federated Church, 76 Bell St. in Chagrin Falls.

The following day, the members of the quartet will share their knowledge and talents with in-school master classes for the Chagrin Falls High School and Chagrin Falls Middle School orchestras.

Anti-bullying mini musical

Geauga Lyric Theater Guild’s after school drama club for grades seven through nine will host the first Chardon Middle School Unity Day Oct. 23. In 2006, the Pacer’s National Prevention of Bullying Center established Unity Day to encourage communities across the nation to prevent bullying.

The after school drama club will present a special mini musical, “Bullies Anonymous,” in two performances open to the public at Geauga Theater, 101 Water St. in Chardon, on Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

In addition to performances, plans are under way for a Unity Fair with a variety of interactive centers for post-show student involvement. Community members are encouraged to show their moral support by wearing orange on Oct. 23.

Bluegrass at Hambden Grange

Hambden Grange will host Mark Posey’s Doghouse Entertainment Bluegrass Jamboree on Oct. 26, featuring “Vertical Limit” and “Hidden Drive.”  Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m. A food stand will be available. Tickets are $10 for adults, and children under 11 years old are free. The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road in Chardon.

Historical society gala fundraiser

The Chagrin Falls Historical Society & Museum will host a 1950s themed gala on Nov. 2 from 6-10 p.m. at Chagrin Falls Intermediate School, 77 E. Washington St. in Chagrin Falls. Attendees are advised to wear 1950s garb, including poodle skirts and leather jackets. The gala will be preceded by a tailgate party with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Historical Society, 87 E. Washington St. in Chagrin Falls. Drinks, dinner and dancing will be provided at the gala. Call 440-247-4695 or visit chagrinhistory.org for tickets. All proceeds will go to the historical society.
