Graduates earn CCAT scholarships
The Chardon Community Action Team awarded scholarships to Chardon High School graduates John Dinko, Grace Powell and Hannah Rus during the Chardon schools’ annual senior awards night. The awards night was streamed virtually via YouTube this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CCAT works in the Chardon community to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs among youth through education and drug free activities. Every year the CCAT sponsors several events to make this scholarship possible.
CCAT said they were pleased to review many applicants who have chosen to grow up without the influence of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco in their lives. Each applicant not only met all scholarship criteria, but exceeded them.

Kiwanis Club awards scholarships
The Kiwanis Club of Chardon awarded their 2020 scholarships at their July 2 meeting at Deep Woods Shelter in Big Creek Park. Chardon High School graduates John Dinko and Cassidy Robinson were this year’s recipients of the Kiwanis Club scholarships.
About 20 people attended the meeting including the two scholarship recipients, their families, club members and guests.
The scholarships that Kiwanis Club of Chardon awards each year are made possible through various activities, which include the sale of maple syrup products all year, a corn roast in September and various other events.
The Kiwanis Club of Chardon strongly believes that even one person can help their community through volunteering. Each recipient of this year’s scholarships is involved in the community through participation in extracurricular activities and volunteering.
