Ame Taton from DaBoros Fresh Health Foods will discuss food choices and diet, 12-3 p.m. on Thursday at the West Geauga Senior Center, 12650 West Geauga Plaza Unit 4 in Chester. The program includes a fresh and healthy hot meal. After lunch, the group will visit the Bainbridge Heinen’s for a guided and detailed tour of the store. The cost is $6 per senior. Holiday help needed

Geauga County Job and Family Services hosts “Sponsor a Family Program” to assist low income families with toys, food and gifts for the holidays. This program is open to all Geauga County families with minor children who are receiving assistance such as food stamps.

Geauga County Public Employee Retirees PERI #86 annual Christmas Party meeting is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s in Chardon. Lunch is $12 payable at the door and reservations are due Dec. 7. All are welcome.

Learn about recycling

A specialist will discuss the changes in recycling practices at 10 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Chagrin Falls Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Speaker Doreen Schreiber, the business recycling specialist at the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, will discuss recent changes in the industry and the impact on residents and businesses. Bring an item or two with you if you are not sure if it can be recycled. The program sponsored by Patriots for Change is open to the public.

Home energy discussed

West Geauga Senior Center, 12650 West Geauga Plaza Unit 4 in Chester, hosts Natalie Pajk, LSW, to provide information on the HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 14. This free program is for all who are interested in applying for HEAP or need help getting started.

Learn what to watch for in the night sky, 2-3 p.m. Dec. 30 at Observatory Park, 10610 Clay St. in Montville. The building open house is 1-4 p.m. and is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Celebrate New Year’s

Celebrate New Year’s Eve, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at the new Claridon Woodlands, 11383 Claridon-Troy Road in Claridon.

Fun activities for all ages including a toast at 12 p.m. Pizza and beverages provided.

This wheelchair and stroller accessible program is mostly indoors but may be partially outdoors if weather permits.
