Church hosts give-aways

Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon, is holding it’s free community give-aways, Dorothy’s Porch, throughout the year. Upcoming dates include: Feb. 18-19, June 3-4, Sept. 9-10 and Dec. 2-3. Give-aways are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. all days.

Fairmount to celebrate Purim

Fairmount Temple is hosting two virtual Purim opportunities on Feb. 25 and 28. Purim Eve takes place on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. with a virtual gathering that includes a reading and lesson from the Megillah scroll to celebrate the beginning of the holiday. On Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m., the temple will host “The Totally Rad ʼ80s Purimspiel,” a wacky take on the story of Esther, Haman, Vashti and Mordechai, featuring parodies of popular 1980s music hits. Both events are open to all and will be live-streamed at fairmounttemple.org/worship/live-stream, Fairmount Temple’s Facebook page and the Fairmount Sanctuary ROKU channel (free upload). Refugee Shabbat on Zoom

Temple Emanu El will discuss key issues affecting local refugees at its “Refugee Shabbat” service on Zoom on March 5 at 6:15 p.m. Anne Hill, president of Americans Making Immigrants Safe, Inc. (AMIS, Inc.) will present issues that immigrants in the greater Cleveland community face as they try to cope with documentation needs and family stress. Attend Lenten services

Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 17989 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge, is offering a mid-week service throughout the season of Lent in person and online Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.

Lenten Learning will also be available to younger worshippers on Sundays, Feb. 21 and March 7 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. throughout Lent via Zoom. The church invites children in preschool through fifth grade to hear Bible stories and participate in hands-on activities to help better their understanding of Lent, Holy Week and Easter.
