Rick Smith Jr. to perform under dome

Geauga Growth Partnership has announced this year’s HomeGrown Geauga entertainment will include magician Rick Smith Jr., a hometown success story. Mr. Smith will entertain alongside other homegrown acts at HomeGrown Geauga Under the Dome on Saturday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at ASM International, 9639 Kinsman Road in Russell. ‘Alone’ survivor tells tales

Mantua native Britt Ahart, a two-time participant on the History Channel’s outdoor survivalist TV series “Alone,” will visit the Solon Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library at 7 p.m. on Monday to talk about his experiences in Argentina and Mongolia. He will focus on what it was like to be alone and surviving and what it took to walk away from it all. Registration is required for this event. Friends hold book sale

The Friends of the Chagrin Falls Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library book sale will be Aug. 8-10 at the library, 100 E. Orange St. Friends members have a special preview from 4-6 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Center screens ‘Instant Family’
