Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP Chapter 4527 meets at 1 p.m. Aug. 6 at Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road.

Dr. Eric Trattner discusses options seniors have to care for their feet. A brief meeting and refreshments follow the meeting.

Newbury American Legion Post 663 annual chicken barbecue is from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Hunter Pavilion behind the post at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury.

Friends of WomenSafe golf outing

Friends of WomenSafe third annual golf outing “Greens for the Greenhouse” is Aug. 8 at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course, 13095 Rockhaven Road in Chester. The event includes 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, hole games, breakfast, lunch and light dinner.

Funds raised benefit the Green House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, serving Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties. Sponsorships are available. Register by calling 440-285-3741.

Chardon Post 6519 Dice Run

Chardon Post 6519 annual Dice Run begins at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at 752 Water St. in Chardon. Bikes depart at 10:30 a.m. and last bike is in at 4 p.m. Directions and maps for the new route this year are provided at sign-in.

Donation is $20 per rider and $5 per passenger and includes 50/50 raffle, pull tabs and raffle baskets. Dinner is provided at the end of the run with a cash bar. Open to the public. For more information, call 440-285-3699.

Caterpillar extravaganza

Experience a spectacular display of live caterpillars in Northeast Ohio, plus related crafts and games from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 at West Woods, 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell. Bring a caterpillar for identification and receive a prize.

The program is wheelchair and stroller accessible with no registration required.

Great Lakes shipping history

Burton Public Library hosts a representative of the National Museum of the Great Lakes to present “Ships, Shipping, Shipwrecks and Genealogy” at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at 14588 W. Park St. in Burton.

Hike at Veterans Legacy Woods

Veterans are invited to a naturalist-led hike through Veterans Legacy Woods, formerly Wicked Woods, from 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 21 at 14085 Ravenna Road in Newbury. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear to discover nature in central Geauga County.

This hike is partially wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Katydid Konzert hike

Bring a flashlight and venture out along the trails of Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve from 8-9:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in search of some vociferous musicians at 15681 Old Rider Road in Burton. Pants and sturdy shoes are recommended for off-trail excursions. Call 440-286-9516 for more information.
