Students discover shapes
At Notre Dame Elementary School, Courtney Hickman’s first-grade math class took part in hands-on activities with Play-Doh last week. The students are learning about two-dimensional shapes and used the molding material to help create and visualize their shapes.
School reflects on Holy Week
Holy Week marks the beginning of the Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday), which leads to Easter Sunday, the holiest time of the Christian church year.
The Notre Dame Elementary School community marked the beginning of this holy time with a quiet hour on March 30, their last day before Easter break. That day, students entered the school quietly, engaged in silent reflection, prayer, mediation on the Stations of the Cross and other quiet Lenten activities. The school encouraged families last week to set aside quiet time for each day of the Triduum to mark their journey to Easter.
NDCL ‘Mane’ event a success
The Notre Dame School’s virtual “Mane Event” on March 27 raised more than $120,000 due to sponsors, auction bidders and Holy Family Fund donors, as well as Pat O’Brien Chevrolet’s title sponsorship. Part of the 43-minute, live-streamed event helped provide emergency tuition assistance to students and families experiencing unforeseen circumstances in meeting their tuition obligations to Notre Dame Schools.
