Winter LEGO exhibit at art center

The current exhibition at the Orange Art Center features a new faculty member and his love of LEGOs. E.J. Bocan III has been building LEGOs since he was 5 years old. He is now a professional artist and builds a variety of artwork and sculptures. He creates custom building kits with instructions and will teach a Snap and Blocks 2D Sculpture Art Camp this summer. Samples of Mr. Bocan’s work will be on display for at least the next six weeks at the Orange Art Center, 31500 Chagrin Blvd. in Pepper Pike.

Anliker display at Valley Art Center

Artist Roger Anliker’s work will be on display at the Valley Art Center in the exhibit “Intimate Regard” starting March 4. Mr. Anliker, an Akron native, passed away in 2013 after a distinguished career. The 24 paintings include portraits, landscapes and a nude study. One of his paintings, “Eye of a Dragonfly,” took 30 years to complete. The exhibit will be open through April 29 at the Valley Art Center, 155 Bell St. in Chagrin Falls.

Colored pencil artist gives lecture

The Fairmount Center for the Arts will present the next program in their “Pull Back the Curtain” speaker series with colored pencil artist Mandy Peltier on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. Ms. Peltier will talk about her creative journey, process and inspiration. Her award-winning drawings are known for appearing realistic. The talk is geared toward teens and adults but is open and free for all ages. Attendees can also view the Fairmount Faculty Art Show on display now through Feb. 29. CDFF announces partnership

The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival and Gravitas Ventures announced a partnership to promote the art of documentary film. Gravitas Ventures, a Cleveland-based film distributor, will offer guaranteed distribution to more than 100 million homes in North America to winners of two categories at the Chagrin film festival starting in 2020. The distribution company has partners in cable, satellite, telco and over-the-top streaming. The Chagrin film festival will take place Oct. 6-11 at various venues throughout Chagrin Falls. In addition, the CDFF announced that “Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl)” won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject at the 92nd Academy Awards.
