Classical winter performances

M.U.S.i.C. presents two winter performances of classic pieces. On Jan. 19, there will be a concert with works for two pianos as well as a violin performance and an aria performance. On Feb. 2, a group of musicians will present romantic pieces and love songs.

The Jan. 19 performance is at 3 p.m. at The Village in Beachwood, 26000 Village Lane. The Feb. 2 performance is at 3 p.m. at a Fairmount Boulevard home with its own pipe organ.

Israeli pop star to perform

Case Western Reserve University-Siegal Lifelong Learning presents Rami Kleinstein, one of Israel’s most renowned pop stars, at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, 1855 Ansel Road in Cleveland, on Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. 

A native of New York, Mr. Kleinstein moved to Israel with his family in 1970 at the age of 8. Mr. Kleinstein is known for both his lyrics and his piano playing and soulful voice. The concert will be an intimate performance featuring a selection of original songs from Mr. Kleinstein’s repertoire.

VIP tickets, which include parking and a cocktail reception beginning at 6:30 p.m., are $75 for members and $80 for nonmembers. General seating is $25 for members and $30 nonmembers. Preferred seating is available, and reduced pricing for blocks of student seating is available by contacting Sheryl Hirsh at 216-368-4623.

New art classes offered

The Orange Art Center, 31500 Chagrin Blvd. in Pepper Pike, will offer two new classes for their winter sessions beginning Jan. 23 and running through March 26.

Learn to paint with acrylics Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. to create abstract to traditional pieces with faculty member Peter Green. Beginners are welcome.

A beginning combination of drawing and painting is available from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday evenings. Spend the first five weeks on drawing then the following on painting with faculty member Marlene Weinstein.

Art by the Falls submissions

Valley Art Center will present the 37th Annual Art by the Falls outdoor fine arts and contemporary crafts festival. The event draws community members to Chagrin Falls for an outdoor festival of approximately 120 artists and makers. Artwork to be shown includes paintings, pottery, photography prints, textiles and more.

Deadline for artists and makers who would like to show their work at the festival is Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. Entry fee is $40 and is non-refundable. Artists will be notified of jury results on March 2.

Artist setup times for the event are June 5 at 7:30 a.m. and June 6 from 7-9 a.m. For more information, call the Valley Art Center at 440-247-7507.
