2020 NEOMFA Playwrights Festival

Performing arts theater Convergence Continuum partners with the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing Program to bring the NEOMFA Playwrights Festival Feb. 13-22. Week one features full length play “A Shape to this Ache,” and week two features the one-act play “The Purple Queen.” The festival opens on Feb. 13 and runs at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 22 at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Road in Cleveland. Screening of French film

The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival invites attendees to the special screening of “Degas and Cassatt, the Terrible Children of Impressionism.” The film features conversations with a renowned psychologist, author and art historians. There will be French wines, appetizers and an introduction by Felicia Zavarella Stadelman. The event will take place on Feb. 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Hamlet Clubhouse, 324 Hamlet Hills Drive in Chagrin Falls. Donations to the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival at the door are appreciated. Entertainment at Hamlet

Hamlet is hosting the Dan Zola Orchestra and vocalist Dianne Palmer for a performance on Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. The orchestra is known for its authentic swing and big band sound, and guests will also have cocktails and appetizers. Guests are invited to stay for a tour of Hamlet after the performance. This event will take place in the Hamlet Atrium, 200 Hamlet Hills Drive in Chagrin Falls. The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are required. Call Karen at 440-247-4676 to reserve a seat.

CVLT seeking young playwrights

The Chagrin Valley Little Theater is running its second Young Playwrights event this summer and is looking for 10-minute scripts by playwrights ages 18 and under. The theater committee is accepting scripts through March 15. The selected plays, which may feature any topic and include actors of all ages, will be staged in July/August as the closing production of CVLT’s 90th season.
