Teens Write at Chagrin library
Teens in grades six to 12 are welcome to bring a writing project, or an idea for one, and work in the company of other teens during an hour dedicated to writing at the Chagrin Falls Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, 100 E. Techie Teens meet at library
Techie Teens can join the Gates Mills Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, 1491 Chagrin River Road, to have fun exploring a different technology each month. This month’s event is June 20 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Registration is requested for this free program at 440-423-4808.
National Merit scholarship awardees
Last week, National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced more than 3,500 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
University School senior Dylan T. Laurianti of Sagamore Hills received the Grinnell College Scholarship from Grinnell College of Iowa. He plans to study mathematics.
Three Solon High School seniors and Solon residents received National Merit Scholarships. Dylan J. Duecaster received the Purdue University Scholarship and plans to study astronautics, Sarah A. Kalinowski received the Brandeis University Scholarship and plans to study psychology and Carly M. Stewart earned the Vanderbilt University Scholarship and plans to study genetics.
Hawken School senior Nathan L. Miao of Willoughby earned the Vanderbilt University Scholarship and plans to study entrepreneurship, while fellow Hawken senior Michelle Ying Zang of Willoughby received the University of Chicago scholarship and plans to study economics.
