Injured hawk transported for care
On Jan. 9, a Riverview Road resident in Gates Mills observed an injured hawk on the road that appeared to have been hit by a car. An officer transported the injured hawk to Penitentiary Glen Reservation in Kirtland for care, according to the police report.
Security calls police on alumni
On Jan. 5, Hunting Valley police were alerted to a small group of men at University School who may have been trespassing. Security advised Hunting Valley police that cameras showed five to seven people on the football field off SOM Center Road with flashlights around 1 a.m. Police said that the men were alumni.
Warrant served for forgery
On Jan. 9, Orange police responded to Extended Stay South at 3820 Orange Place Drive for a disturbance report. Police found a 14-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy in a room. The older boy said that they are cousins and their uncle was watching them, but left around midnight to get food, according to the report. The uncle was identified as David Goolsby, 31, of Cleveland and was found to have an outstanding warrant for forgery through the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, the report states. Police said that he was transported to the sheriff’s office and a friend watched the children.
Man cited for suspension
On Jan. 4, a car was driving eastbound on Shaker Boulevard approaching Brainard Road in Pepper Pike, according to the report. The driver did not stop at a red light and struck a car traveling northbound on Brainard. The driver on Shaker Boulevard, Eddie Ortiz, 29, of Lorain was cited for driving under suspension, the report states.
Police assist resident
On Jan. 6, an East Washington Street resident requested assistance from Chagrin Falls police in removing an intoxicated non-resident family member from his home. Assistance was provided and the resident drove the family member back to his own home in Auburn Township.
A Cleveland man was charged by Solon police with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle Jan. 5.
At 10:57 p.m., police arrested a Cleveland man on Aurora Road for driving under suspension and a traffic warrant from the Solon police department. A loaded 9 mm pistol was found in a passenger seat pocket, police said, accessible to the driver.
Anthony Little, 19, was cited for driving under suspension and charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Car stop results in charge
Solon police issued a weapons charge against a Warrensville Heights man on Jan. 8.

Purse returned to owner
The owner of a Chagrin Falls specialty store delivered to the village police department a purse that was inadvertently left in the store by a customer on Jan. 10.
Officers were able to locate the owner, an Orange Village resident, and the purse was turned over to the owner, according to reports.
Man taken into custody
A Richmond Heights man faces a weapons related charge after being stopped by Solon police on Jan. 1.
At 8:11 p.m., police stopped a car on Bainbridge Road for window tint. The driver was arrested on an East Cleveland warrant for violation of a court order. The vehicle search revealed a loaded 9 mm pistol under the front passenger seat, the report said.
Kivon James, 29, was arrested for improper handling and for having a weapon under disability as he is a convicted felon, police said.
Police called to alleged road rage
A Twinsburg man faces a weapons charge after being stopped by Solon police on Jan. 8.
At 11:57 a.m., police said there was a minor crash on SOM Center Road and a road rage incident. In the incident, a driver allegedly threatened another driver with a firearm, police said.
Police found an unloaded 9 mm pistol in the toe box, however a magazine for the gun was located in a sunglass holder, accessible to the driver, the report stated.
Ammari Carter, 22, was arrested for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and cited for reckless operation and driving under suspension.
Police called to alleged assault
A Cleveland man was arrested on a weapons charge Jan. 11 by Solon police.
At 4:53 p.m., police were investigating an alleged assault on Aurora Road reported by a witness. A man was smacking a female passenger, according to the report, but the female declined any police action.
A large knife was found next to the driver’s seat and a loaded 9 mm pistol was found under the driver’s seat, the report stated.
Douglas Parks, 31, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, the knife, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, police said.
