Scam averted in Falls
An East Washington Street resident contacted Chagrin Falls police on Dec. 7 to report a possible fraudulent attempted transfer of money from her checking account.
She advised police that she had contacted her bank, the transaction was blocked, and no money was lost but wanted the incident on record.
Neighbors report junk cars
After neighborhood complaints were received about a May Court resident storing three junk cars in her driveway, Chagrin Falls police on Dec. 9 notified the homeowner to discuss the situation.
The 56-year old female was advised of the village ordinance pertaining to inoperable vehicles, along with the requirement to have valid registrations on each vehicle.
The resident was given a 10-day warning to have the vehicles put into compliance or removed from the property.
Citizen confronts motorist
On Dec. 11, an Elm Street resident in Chagrin Falls took matters into his own hands by confronting a motorist he said was speeding on the street, according to village police. The resident and driver had a minor verbal confrontation.
An officer spoke with both parties and advised them to stay away from each other and, for their own safety, to report potential violations to the police department rather than handle them in person.
Dog bites visitor
On Dec. 12 in Chagrin Falls, an Orange Street resident’s dog bit a person on the forearm during a visit inside the home, resulting in the victim being transported to the hospital for treatment, according to village police.
The dog owner was advised by Chagrin Falls police to provide the dog’s immunization records and quarantine the animal for 10 days.
Domestic violence charges filed
A Solon man was charged with domestic violence Dec. 9.
At 9:17 a.m., two brothers argued on Sedgefield Oval in Solon, according to the police report. The suspect threw a glass object, causing a laceration to a 25-year-old male’s back. The suspect jumped from a second story window and a short foot pursuit ensued.
The man, 25, was charged with domestic violence in the incident, police said.
Man faces firearm charges
An Akron man was charged in Solon with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle Dec. 8.
At 1:56 p.m., Solon police stopped a vehicle on SOM Center Road for a lane violation. A search was done on the vehicle due to an odor of marijuana, police said. None was found, but police located a loaded 45 caliber pistol in the center console.
Sean Mumaw, 49, was arrested and held on the weapons charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Woman cited for theft
A Twinsburg woman was cited for theft Dec. 11 in Solon.
At 5:50 a.m., a shopper at Old Navy, 6025 Kruse Drive, concealed over $220 in various clothing items in her purse, Solon police said.
India McCrary, 32, was cited for theft, police said.
