The Chagrin Valley mourns this week after hearing about the senseless and tragic death of 85-year-old Bainbridge resident Sally Schultz, who was killed last Friday when the vehicle she was riding in was struck by an out-of-control stolen vehicle being pursued by local police.

The young suspects in the stolen vehicle were detained immediately and taken to area hospitals for their non-life-threatening injuries and they are expected to face charges in connection with the crash.

While tragedies like this are always sad, the fact it comes so close to the holidays will no doubt be even more difficult for the Schultz family and our thoughts will be with them in the weeks and months ahead.

Fortunately, fatality crashes in this region are few and far between. But that doesn’t make them any less painful for all those involved.
