It’s good to see that the Bainbridge community is working together to build a new playground at River Road Park. The playground was leveled this past summer because years of wear and tear had taken its toll on the playground, deemed a hazard by township officials.

Because township funds are limited, a group of residents agreed to organize a campaign to raise money for a new playground with a goal of having it in place by the summer of 2020.

Trustees have committed to putting in about $20,000 for drain work and about $80,000 for some of the new playground equipment. The overall cost of a new playground has yet to be determined. It likely depends on what safety features and equipment residents envision.

We applaud residents for coming forward and taking charge. It shows that people can work together for a cause that benefits the community, especially the children.
